Your Data, Your Control

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 23, 2026

๐Ÿ”’ Your data stays yours. We don't sell it, we don't run ads, and we don't use analytics or tracking of any kind. Most of what you log is backed up so you don't lose years of training when you change phones โ€” and this page says exactly what goes where, and what needs your explicit permission first.

Our Commitment to Your Privacy

RepSnap is built local-first: the app works fully offline, and your phone holds the original copy of everything you log. Some data is backed up to our server so you don't lose years of training when you change phones. We don't sell data, we don't run ads, and we don't use analytics or tracking of any kind.

What Stays Only on Your Phone

This data never leaves your device. If you uninstall the app without exporting it, it is gone:

  • Progress photos, unless you switch on photo backup yourself โ€” see Progress Photos below, which is the only part of this policy about images of your body.
  • Your split-style suggestion and your default rest-timer length
  • App and interface preferences: theme, language, which tips you have dismissed, and the schedule of local reminders your phone shows you

What Is Backed Up to Our Server

So it survives a lost or replaced phone, the following is stored on our server (Amazon Web Services, United States):

  • Workouts: exercise, reps, weight and date, plus the per-set detail you record โ€” reps in reserve, tempo, grip, per-side, warm-up and drop-set tags, and what limited the set โ€” and the notes and โ€œhow did it goโ€ rating you add to a session
  • Body weight history
  • Tape measurements you log (waist, chest, arm, thigh, calf)
  • Food entries and saved meals, and your corrections to food data
  • Sleep entries
  • Your goals (sleep, body weight and strength targets)
  • Workout templates, progression state and the record of plan adjustments
  • Pain and niggle log
  • Supplement preferences
  • App and training settings, including height, age, sex and goal, which the app uses to calculate your targets

This backup is tied to an identifier your phone generates on first use. If you sign in with Apple, it is also tied to your Apple account so the same data follows you to a new device.

Progress Photos

Photos of your body are the most sensitive thing this app can hold, so they are handled separately from everything else and nothing happens to them without you switching it on.

  • By default they stay on your phone. They are kept in the app's private storage, are never written to your camera roll, and are not uploaded anywhere.
  • Backup is opt-in and off by default. If you switch it on, your photos are stored in our private Amazon S3 storage, encrypted, reachable only by your account. It requires Sign in with Apple. Switching it back off deletes our copies โ€” not just future uploads.
  • AI review is a second, separate opt-in, also off by default, and it is the only case in which a photo of your body leaves our storage. When you ask for a review, the two photos being compared are sent to Google Gemini to be analysed. It requires photo backup to be on, because the review reads the stored copies; switching backup off switches AI review off with it.
  • What the review is allowed to say is limited on purpose. The model is never told which photo is the newer one, it is asked twice with the order reversed, and it has no field in which to return a body-fat percentage, a weight or a measurement. Every number you see next to a review is calculated on your phone from the sets you logged.
  • Deleting works at every level: a single photo, the whole photo backup, or your entire account.

Accounts

You can use RepSnap without an account. Sign in with Apple is optional and exists so your data can be recovered on another device. If you use it, we store the name and email address Apple provides (or the private relay address, if you choose to hide your email). Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication.

Services We Send Data To

RepSnap uses a small number of outside services. Each one receives only what it needs, and only when you use that feature:

  • Google Gemini โ€” when you photograph a meal or a nutrition label, ask the coach a question, or request the weekly nutrition summary, that photo or text is sent to Google's AI service to be analysed, together with the training and nutrition data the answer needs. Progress photos are sent only if you switch on AI photo review, which is off by default and asked for separately โ€” see Progress Photos above. Google processes what it receives under its own terms.
  • Deepgram โ€” when you log a set by voice, the audio is sent to Deepgram to be converted to text. We do not store the recording; Deepgram processes it under its own terms.
  • Open Food Facts and the USDA food database โ€” when you search for a food or scan a barcode, the search term or barcode is sent to look the food up. No personal data is attached.
  • Amazon Web Services โ€” hosts the server and database described above.

We do not sell, rent or trade your data, and we do not share it with advertisers, data brokers or anyone else beyond the services listed above.

Analytics and Tracking

We do not use analytics, tracking, telemetry or advertising SDKs. We don't track how you use the app, and we don't access your location.

Deleting Your Data

  • Delete everything: Settings โ†’ Delete my account removes your data from our server and wipes it from the app, including your progress photos.
  • Delete one item: individual workouts, meals, photos and entries can be deleted at any time inside the app.
  • Take it with you: the app exports your data as JSON, CSV or a PDF report.

If you would rather ask us to delete your data, email privacy@repsnap.app and we will do it.

Children

RepSnap is not intended for children under 16.

Changes to This Policy

If the app starts collecting something new, this page changes before the feature ships, and the effective date above is updated.

The Bottom Line

Your training log is yours. Your body photos never leave your phone. Everything else is backed up only so you don't lose it, is used only to make the app work, and can be deleted in two taps.
